Some video from my turkey hunt

Unread postby Mountain Man » Wed Apr 27, 2011 9:13 am

Here is some video from my WI turkey hunt last week. I had the decoys set at about 7-8 yards. The turkey and the shot were farther away than I wanted (~25 yds.) for the video but it still worked out and IMO it’s still some cool footage. The video starts with the live footage and then I have 3 slow motion segments of the shot with each successive segment slower than the previous one. If you look closely at the last slow motion shot, right at the beginning as the arrow leaves the blind (you could even pause it there to see it better), there is what I call a vapor trail behind the arrow. It was about 30 degrees F when I shot the turkey and there was some frost on the ground. It’s just a cool effect that I noticed looking at still frames and the really slow motion.

The nock is a red Burt Coyote Lumenok. The nock is orange but when the light goes on it turns red. A while back Dan recommended I try this nock for video to make the arrow easier to see in flight and I believe that he uses it too. I get them at the local Gander Mtn. for about $10 each.

The lighted nock does add a little weight and while practicing I noticed that arrows with that nock were hitting a couple inches low at 20 yards compared to the non-lighted nocks I have. I adjusted my sight for the lighted nocks.

Indianahunter - it was about 25 yds.
