Anyone have an experience with any shotgun chokes for turkeys? I want to get one for my step-dad to use this spring, but I dont want to spend alot of money, and Im just curious which to go with..Im down to three choices..
1) The HS Strut Undertaker...$20, .675 constriction, and it gets a 4.3/5 rating on cabelas website..
2) The Primos Tight-Wad..$25, .660 constriction, and gets a 4.6 rating on cabelas..
3) TruGlo Gobble-Stopper..$20, .665 constriction, and gets a 4.5 rating on cabelas..For another 5 bucks, it comes with a snap-on fiber optic sight, which might not be too bad of an idea either..
Does anyone here have any experience with any of these chokes, and can help me decide between them?

Re: Turkey Chokes
A buddy of mine loves the Under Taker. He says it patterns real well. I just use my full choke that came with my shotgun, although I am cnsidering getting a turkey choke too.

I killed a ton of turkeys with an undertaker in my mossberg when I used to gun hunt. What model gun are you looking to choke?

Re: Turkey Chokes
I have used the Undertaker for several years now. It has worked well for me. I've killed turkeys all the way out to 50 yards with it a couple times.

Re: Turkey Chokes
The gun is a Remington 870..
I am an HS fan, so I was hoping the undertaker was a good choke. The HS constricts less than the others, so thats the only thing that made me wonder if I should pick one of the other two over it..

Re: Turkey Chokes
I have an 870 also. I have a choke made by Remington. It's an "extra full", and it actually sticks out past the end of the barrel. My "full" choke is even with the end of the barrel. Both of them seem to work well.
A buck will see you three times, and hear you twice, but he's only gonna smell you once.

Re: Turkey Chokes
I would recommend Pure Gold with a load of Hevi13 3'"2oz.#7's
.670 or tighter.... the owners let your exhange and try as many as you need to in order to get the best pattern.
im very detailed when patterning turkey guns..... you will get over 200+ pellets in a 20inch circle at 40 yards. No turkey stands a chance... top that with a red dot sight and you dont have to worry about having your head all the way down... which is how most people miss birds.
For 20 bucks..... not sure. not all chokes pattern correctley in a given gun.... it may shoot high, right, low... low+right... who knows. You really have to pattern the specific gun seeing as how all will pattern different. PG and all other major players are 60$+
Good luck

Re: Turkey Chokes
I think I'll go with the Undertaker..For the price, it sounds like it will work just fine.
Do you guys think ported vs non-ported makes any difference. I see you can get the undertaker in either version, and I was kinda hoping to get a ported one, but my local gander mountain only has the non-ported one. Think it makes a noticeable difference??
