Over 500 miles to Michigan for me. I don't plan to drive around much once I'm there though. :D

So went north this morning while Tony and Michael Shane went south. They hit gold. birds and gobbles everywhere. We got a plan. They will hit around the airstrip together, Im going to the field trial area to enter. We will start about 1/2 mile apart. I will stay mobile they are going to sit for a while. They heard and saw about 4 different toms in each place. Now we have high hopes, I hate high hopes. Wish they would have saw my nothing this morning then we go in with low hopes.

Dang birds never do the same thing two days in a row

What area you hunting? Don’t have to say a specific spot. I’ll be in area ZE. I plan on sleeping in my truck on private land. I’m hunting public the opener but might hit some private if I don’t get one. I’m hunting the first 3 days

Good luck to everyone hunting tomorrow.

Tony and Michael Shane just roosted some birds and said they will be down there around 4:30 am. I am not going down that early, probably get up around then. I think it is going to be a zoo down there tomorrow. My scouting runs saw plenty of other prospects checking on birds. I am just going to roam around and listen for the other hunters and some gobblers. We will see what happens.

This will be our first Saturday opener since I have lived in Michigan (coming up on 30 years). That and the shutdown is going to have a lot of people out. Looking forward to it.

Well roosted a couple last night, snuck in there today, they gobbled like crazy but flew down to the private field. The sun was really hitting that field, my guess is they wanted to get warm. They shut up after fly down, and I have work and other responsibilities so I could not stay long. Lots of gobbles this morning.

Well, some blood was shed today. Tony and Michael Shane, did a double right around 730 am. Two good public birds, around nine inch beards. I was out wondering doing my thing and didn't connect. But I was so happy for them. They did a double whammy from their set.

I will probably put up a kill zone post on their success, but not tonight. Then my neighbors and good friends Ron and his son James went down to Chelsea. Hope I don't get them in trouble with the lockdown. James, the son, helped get his dad his first bird ever. That bird was a beast, 25 pounds just over 1 1/2" spurs, but only a 9inch beard, probably had some beard rot or snow pulled it out.

I will be back out tomorrow, going to switch areas. About 10 am today and Highland Rec was filled with families, dog walkers, mountain bikers, etc. Had quite a few turkey hunters as well. Lots of fun, but heading to where there is less bike trails tomorrow, and hope the sun isn't shinning as much

Bad luck for me today but I’m not gonna complain. I had my chance. Back at it tomorrow. I have a big long beard roosted. I’m gonna set up close in the morning
