I have to vote for first light. I love to cut and run mid morning, but nothing beats getting in close to a couple of toms at first light.

First light is the coolest time. 10-3 is the deadliest for me.

WOW!!...these answers have really been a learning experience for me. 
I just started getting serious about turkey hunting a few years ago. Looks like I have been doing it all wrong by hunting hard early morning and quitting by late morning. Didn't draw a tag this year but you can bet I will be focusing on mid-day next season!

They go on sale over the counter sometime towards the end of the month. Maybe you could pickup a tag for a different season or different area. Check the WIDNR website for over the counter sale dates and times maybe you will find something that works for you.

Like many have said, sunrise is an amazing time to be in the woods, but as far as tagging out mid-day has been much more productive for me.

This is exactly how I feel.... only thing i would add is if you cant call in any of the gobblers at fly down time, come back at 10... they will rememebr and the hens they where with may have went to nest.... that is why guys have success in mid morning.... the hens left the toms.
i can only hunt to noon, but this season last 2 weeks is all day.

Seriously Zap? Kansas is freaking amazing hunting when you get on ground with good numbers. That early archery season is KILLER!

Here in Iowa I'm a huge fan of afternoons. In most of my experiences the gobblers don't roost right in with the hens (they sometimes do) and if you can find his roost tree and set up a hundred yards from it you're golden. I cant' lock down a "best time" to kill for me though, killed birds all day long over the years.

i like to kill birds any time of day but my favorite time is right away in the mourning! right off the roost!!! in a way its like setting up on a bedded buck knowing hes there just waiting for him to step out to get a crack at him

For me it is the first 45 min of light or 10:30-noon......depends on weather, foilage thickness and my tolerance of swamp skeeters

ive have killed numerous turkeys mid mourning in late season! hens leave the toms to go sit on there nests and what ever else they do during the day leaving the love hungry toms out by them self's ...
works out pretty good, i sleep in till 9am or so wake up, go out listen for some gobbling or drive around and check Fields until i find a lonely tom, sneak in and put the smack down on them...
