I remember calling in a hen one time.
She went flaky crazy over the decoys.
Running around, flying from tree to tree over the decoys.
Carrying on like a mad woman
Then I heard a gobbler a distance away.
I was figuring the commotion would send him right over.
But he never came. Just kept gobbling.
So no, I never called a hen in with a gobbler.

When the I can get her riled up a Tom will check out the commotion most of the time if the hen doesn’t bust me before the Tom gets there.

I have done it a couple of times. Get aggressive with the hen and sometimes you can get them wound up. I would guess when it happens that she is the dominate hen in the area?

I've killed a couple that died because their hen was interested in me.
2 good points.....picking a fight with her can often bring her in super mad...mimic her..call a little louder..a little more aggressive.
Clucking and purring is my go-to. I cluck, purr and scratch leaves more than I yelp or cutt.
Actually thinking about it, many of the birds I've killed have been with hens.

It happens often for me. There have been alot of hunts where I work a group of birds in by yelping back n for with a noisy hen.
My Tom last year I called in the hen to my decoys and the Tom followed. I don't think he ever gobbled. He just strutted behind the hen.

One year I had a hen roosted right above me where I set up. She flew down and did all the calling for me. The gobbler came right in. I can think of 3 other times I’ve killed a Tom that came in with a hen. It happens often

I've done it a few times and as others have said, the key is to get super aggressive with your calling. I'll go tit for tat with a hen mimicking her calls until I hear her pitch change and she starts throwing some sharp clucks in meaning that she's getting irritated. Then I'll answer every one of her calls with aggressive cutting and even try to cut her off when she tries to call back....that REALLY seems to make them just have to come see who's challenging them. It's also extremely fun because by the time I get to the cutting sequence, the gobbler that's with her has been gobbling so much listening to two hens go at it that I can't believe his head hasn't fallen off.

Buddy and I sat and watched a Tom strut with couple hens on a field edge. Then proceed to breed. Then strut, then breed. Almost seemed like he knew we were there. Kinda looked at us while doing the deed. :) Sucker. Hen pops out of a tree line just a yappin. Pissed off. Immediately I began to challenge her and she just goes bonkers. Eventually she comes over and drags all the birds with her including the Tom.
I have only called in a couple lone hens, but getting hen riled up has worked on a number of occasions. Its one of my favorite parts of turkey hunting. You can define the difficulty for yourself, and create great comic theatre. Love those turkeys.
