What state(s) will you be spring turkey hunting in 2011?

Unread postby Mountain Man » Tue Jan 18, 2011 6:14 pm

Turkey season is still a couple of months away but where is everyone planning to hunt? Does anybody have out of state trips planned? It seems that most of the HB members live in and hunt areas with Easterns - I know there are some exceptions. Will anyone be trying for a different subspecies by going out of state/cross country?

I plan to hunt WI with bow and gun.

NY actually has good turkey hunting, so I'll be staying here. Also a 2 tom limit, and I can hunt the whole month of May.

I'll be staying in WI if I draw a tag. My buddies brother is an awesome caller and they doubled up on opening day last spring. Same hunt and 2 birds came in so this year I'm invited along we're hoping for a triple in the first season.

It really must suck to have to "draw" a turkey tag. I couldn't even imagine what that would be like.

Tell me about it, or you can buy the leftovers over the counter for the crappy seasons. We have like 6 seasons I think it is and they are each a week long

The minnesota season is structured the same way..

The problem is that certain areas (SE) are loaded with turkeys, and other areas of the state have virtually none, so they have to break it up into all the different areas and zones to ensure all the birds arent killed off in the areas where the population isnt as dense (kinda like doe tags).

It sucks having to get drawn. I wasnt drawn last year, so this year I have a preference point, and Im really hoping I get drawn!
