Turkeys have to run and gain momentum before they can actually fly off. 99.99% of the time they will drop even if you take one leg out because all they can do is hobble on their one good leg and not gain enough momentum to fly.

but then again ive shot birds with the bow that don't run they just jump straight up in the air with out running and start flying away...so im sure it depends on the situation of the hunt..ive hit a few low in the legs, either way the turkey is done
