Question for NY turkey hunters
Next week for work I will be in Chautauqua county (near Dunkirk) and Ontario county (near Geneva) and with just enough time to hunt the first couple hours of the morning - can anyone recommend a piece of state land I can walk in blind and have a respectable chance of locating birds? Not asking for any secret spots but all suggestions welcome thanks

I believe that area has a high turkey population so you have that going for you. Get on Google earth and look for public with high ridges. They maybe roosts if not it will be a good vantage point to listen and make a game plan. Also look at aerials for possible fields and hidden strut zones. Ridges over looking fields are always a plus.

The NYSDEC website had what's called a "state lands interactive mapper." Do a Google search for that and it will point you in the right direction. I'm not from that part of the state, so I don't know of anywhere specific in that area.
