Short hunt this AM. First three spots were unproductive. Had a couple toms fire up on the 4th. Unfortunately, things got quiet before I could close the distance and I had to get back home. Hopping on a plane in a few hours.

I hunted till 7 this morning. Had one gobbling sounded like he maybe could be headed my way but he went silent. I sat till about 645 and packed up. Started walking down the field edge and then we spotted each other at the same moment. Must have been working his way towards me. He ran into the woods and i kept walking towards him. Got to where i saw him run in, heard something and then saw the red head about 25 yards away, swung the shotgun around and he started running. Decided not to shoot thru the brush and watched him fly away. oh well, i think i will try him again tomorrow morning, hoping i didn't educated him too much
