"Learn to Call mp3" Any interest?

Unread postby bowhunter15 » Wed May 13, 2015 9:55 am

Has anyone ever heard those language learning CDs? Some of them start out with a conversation between two people in a different language. Then it breaks the dialogue down sentence by sentence, teaches you what the person is saying, and makes you repeat the phrase several times. By the end of the 30 minute session or whatever, it has you go through the whole dialogue, then asks questions that force you to combine new words and phrases with ones you've learned in previous lessons. It plays the dialogue over again, and assuming you've learned, you should understand it and can move onto the next lesson the next day.

Well, I have the idea to do something like this for turkey calling. Obviously I'm somewhat limited in the audio I can collect, but I'm thinking of going on Youtube and downloading clips of good hen audio in the woods. Also downloading calling competition videos.

The breakdown could be something that builds on itself (i.e. Lesson 1: front end note, Lesson 2: Kee Kee, Lesson 3: Yelping, Lesson 4: Cutting, ... , Lesson X: Excited hen compilation, Lesson Y: Challenging jake)

Each lesson could start with a brief description of what purpose or use of the call is, play an example, then break it down and do a listen-try to repeat-listen-try to repeat format. For the early basic lesson files they'd be pretty short, but for the advanced lesson tracks, they might include audio from 3 or 4 different calling competitions to get different sounds.

I'm thinking the exercise of making such a thing would help me tremendously as an individual in turkey calling. Do you think there'd be any interest if I uploaded the files for free download for everyone? I obviously wouldn't be able to sell such a thing unless I had collected or obtained rights to use all of the audio in a commercial use.

Sure sounds like a TON of work- the kind of project I would love for someone besides myself to do.

But yes- I should think there would definitely be an interest!

I'd use it. Great for the ride back and forth to work everyday. Definetly a lot of work though. You may want to include what type of call works best for what your trying to achieve. # of reeds and type of cut make a big difference with mouth calls.

Thanks, I'll do some more checking around. Their audio CDs are $43 for the package.
