Ive been turkey hunting since 1993 and can count the birds ive killed over decoys on one hand but cant count the birds that awshyeday from decoys.

I havent used a decoy in at least 10 years and have had great success.

Not a big turkey hunter, but do hunt them a bit. Hate carryin decoys. When I do use one, it's just an old hen.

I've used a lot of different kinds and they all seem to work decent if they look OK. The only problem is once that bird closes the gap on it and usually before gun range they seem to notice something isn't right. Had it happen tons of times. I finally went ahead and bought expensive ones. I got a Dakota lookout hen and an avian x Jake decoy. I trimmed the beard too because they seem way too long. This setup is killer!! I've had them come straight into them and bump into them and I now dust birds right at my decoys!

My dad carries an avian x hen and Jake decoys. Like I said in my last comment...I like the Dakota hens better because the detail is nicer. I've had my hen and his hen in my yard together and my hen looks more realistic but not by much at all. I don't ever use a strutter decoy but I may start...should really use strutters later in the year when the birds are finishing breeding and maintaining dominance. Seems to be a better time in my opinion.

How many that dislike using decoys hunt turkeys with a bow? I can see with a gun where you don't have to move much and just call hoping the birds walk through you, but it seems a little hard without decoys for hunting with a bow? Am i wrong? A good friend of mine, and successful turkey hunter just uses a fan and calls but he also doesnt mess around with the bow. New to this and decoy placement. By the last day of the season i do pick up the shotgun and run and gun.

I only bow hunt turkeys anymore, so for me decoys are more important than calling.

My turkey hunting setup consists of a Double Bull blind, DSD Jake, DSD upright hen and DSD breeder. deadly decoys and like others have said. its a rush killing birds at 5 yds while their eyes are glued to the decoys

Great looking decoy forsure. dont let the wing feathers get wet or theyll likely not dry out as well since they will stick together
