I mispelled my password and couldnt login. So Ellie posted it.

This was too funny. I went to pick up my fall turkey tag yesterday. Before I left I threw the shotgun in the truck as I was driving by my spot on the way back from town.

This AM I took a youth deer hunting. After our hunt, as we were approaching the truck (still about a hundred yards or so) I told Jo Jo and his dad Tony that I have been seeing a doe behind the old farmhouse and thought she may be bedding there. Told them both I would loop around and see if I could push her down the trail I posted them on.

I headed towards the truck as I was going to walk down the road to get around the suspected doe. I was at the trail I drove in on and bumped a small flock of turkeys. I was standing 10 feet from my truck when I saw them. Well since my gun was in the truck I turned around a grabbed it. Walked to the road-nothing. Didnt look like they crossed. So I backed up and walked around a thicket. I could see a few turkeys scattering in front of me so I shouldered the shotgun. As soon as I did one darted towards the brush on my right. BANG! Nice little young of the year turkey-just what I wanted.

I walked back to Jo Jo and Tony laughing. They were wondering who shot, they didnt know I had my turkey gun in the truck.

Oh, then I looped around and no doe.

Thanks all

Almost greenpeaced me another on Monday night. I was a 1/2 second slow.

Ellie wanted me to take her turkey hunting Monday after school. It started raining around 6 pm. So we walked back to the truck and she kept telling me she wanted a turkey.

I told her they like to go to the fields when it rains so lets get in the truck and loop the fields. 3 turkeys in the cut beans heading NW. I pulled in in the rain, parked handed her the phone to call mom, locked the doors and said I would be right back. Ran down the creek to the west below the field they were in. Tripped, cussed a few times. Came up on top and they were at the edge about 40 yds and running away, I didnt shoot. I still cant believe I didnt shoot. Back to the truck in the rain and got an earful from Ellie. She wants her own fan.
