Before turkey season started, I went for it and bought two Iowa archery spring turkey season tags. I spent major blind time early in the season that was a snooze fest. Completed LOTS of Sukoku puzzles.
Last Sunday I was able to fill my first archery tag on a decent bird.
Today, I took my hunting clothes and gear to work. I changed clothes in my office before I left work so that I could drive straight to where I hoped to hunt.
As the week progresses, so does the difficulty of the Sudoku in the local paper. Once in the blind, I was totally engrossed in trying to finish today's puzzle that I didn't see them coming until the movement at 10 yards caught the corner of my eye; two decent toms mad and looking to rumble.
I dropped the paper/pencil, grabbed the bow as the dominant tom started trying to mount my submissive hen decoy. When I came to full draw, I couldn't see my peep, still had my reading glasses on.
Knocked the glasses off my face with my left shoulder while at full draw, found the pin and let 'er rip.
Never called at all today.
