Late season success

Unread postby G3s » Tue May 14, 2013 10:54 pm

Finally got it done last night. I have been after this turkey for 3 years and he finally got to close last night. It was a great hunt! 1st beard is 10" the second beard is 11". I tried to weigh him on my fish scale but it only goes to 25lbs and he bottomed it out.

I dont know about fat so much Lou, he had a thick white skin on him for sure. I didnt do the dirty work of butchering him, I got to watch as my brothers father in law took care of him and he is going to deep fry him for us this weekend

any spurs to him?

beards are awesome... but surprised not many people talk about the spurs.

To me, the spurs are like a bucks rack. Long, sharp hooks are very hard to come by...

He has decent spurs on him. Nothing real long. 1 spur was 1 1/4" and the other was broken and split and measured 1".. I was hoping for a matched set of 1 1/2's but I will settle for what he had

Very nice! Congrats on a super nice bird. I like a gobbler that has matching long double beards! Hard to find those critters.
Congrats again
