Must be nice to have no snow. Here in West Central WI we still have anywhere from 6-14" on the ground. That's not counting the drifted spots. Good luck on your season.

Re: Gobbler scout 4/5/13
Not trying to sidetrack thsi topic; but how far in advance do you guys scout?
I am not a big turkey hunter and have typically only gone out a day or two before season....but it seems now that i care a bti i am hering more and more about cycles and varying territories based on conditions. I have overcomplicated deer in the past to the point of stepping it back to find more info and less assumption...want to proceed properly here.
thanks

I like the night before the hunt, the best. Where they Roost/Bed is great information to have.
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

Re: Gobbler scout 4/5/13
I have started scouting for our April 24th opener here in Indiana, but I dont really start to lock down locations to hunt until a week or so before the season opens. Once I find their morning strut zones and feeding areas, I stay out of there.
Two nights or even the night before Ill go out at fly up and try to owl hoot one into a shock gobble. That way I know they are there and then I know where they are heading after fly down the next morning.
Its really just piecing it together.
