WI - Spring Permit Drawing
Was just wondering if this has actually happened to anyone else because I have never actually heard of it happening but I applied for my turkey license for next spring as usual but didn't get drawn for a tag! This has never happened to me before has anyone else from WI had it happen?

How do you know you didn't get a tag already?? It usually takes awhile for them to be issued.

Re: WI - Spring Permit Drawing
I just checked on the online licensing thing and it said that they recieved my application but did not award me a permit but now that you mention it you are right they probably didnt hold the drawing yet. I forget what time of year they do the drawing but i imagine its probably when they start sellin the over the counter tags

The drawing isn't until February or March.

Re: WI - Spring Permit Drawing
I was just thinking that some states have their turkey applications in December and someone should put a reminder up for those states. Wisconsin and Minnesota to name a few. First, having an application deadline for an April season in the December before is beyond unneccessary, and if I lived in either state I would call on your game managers to make a change.
I had some positive input to an onerous rule to non-residents in MN some time back with a simple phone call. If you sound reasonable a simple change like moving the application into Jan or Feb where they should be shouldn't be that hard.
But good time for a reminder hunter_mike, for states that have turkey applications being due this month.

Re: WI - Spring Permit Drawing
For sure Lou. The good thing about our drawing in WI is that if you miss the deadline for the drawing, you can still buy over the counter tags, however you can only pick from the leftover permits, meaning that you will most definitely only be able to hunt later in the spring.
