Tis the season for some MI fall turkey

Unread postby Uncle Lou » Sun Sep 16, 2012 3:50 pm

Fall turkey season opened in Michigan today. Check the regs for open units. Down here it is private land in Southern MI. I really love fall turkeys, I usually end up shooting the little ones. Love to chase them flocks and the first clear head is usually the one that gets it. It is pretty chaotic when you bump a flock into a thicket and go in after them. They hold tighter than you would think until the explosion of 20-30 birds take off.

Boncrusher called me yesterday and wanted to go for some yotes tomorrow morning and I thought I better put a turkey tag in my pocket too. We'll see what happens

Good luck Uncle Lou! I have my eyes on a flock of about 7-8 toms over here in WI. I believe they are all 1.5 year olds with about 8" beards now and are the same bunch that I saw this past spring as jakes. I'm going to try to get one of them with the bow.

I harassed a flock of jakes pretty good this spring. I think they know my truck. Trickedem real good bought me a beater jeep for getting in there. No more noisy diesel sounds .
