Oh so close. 07:00 Had a good one coming, then hung up to let junior do the investigsting.
The hen and Jake were under 10yrds w/ grampa watching from about 25. Never got pulled back, didn't get the camera turned to proper spot either. I suck at this self videoing. Sure know how to have fun though.
So then around 10:00 I went for a walk about and discovered the tom in a field. I snuck as close as possible, set up by a wood pile and called to him and his friends.
20 mins later I hear them coming from behind me. GOBBOBOBOBLE ! Holy $hit ! he's right behind the wood pile. I get my bow ready and open the camera. Forget to turn it on. I quietly mouth call and GOBBOBOBLE again. This time he's under 10 yrds. I see his fan first. I pull back. He's in full strut and coming right into my lane, he's maybe 7 yrds. PUTT ! Jigs up. one of his posse must've seen me move, the tom turns and ducks down and trots toward the field. I don't think he even knows what he's running from, so I stand up and put the 20 yrd pin on him but remember I have the guillotine in the chamber. No bird. No footage.

Oh well, maybe tonight ?

The saga continues: Had 4 jakes come in unnanounced tonight. They dicked around long enough gettin' there that I pulled the guillotine for a fixed blade. Of course as soon as I did that they strolled right in to under 15 yds.
At least this time I got it on video, too bad it's incriminating.
Yup, I missed bigger'n $hit.
Given'em a break in the morning - chasing walleyes instead. Will likely get after'em later though.
Sure is fun (read frustrating).

Good Stuff cuz.

I love it, a well armed bowhunter Running and Slinging. You should get some throwing knives, if you keep getting that close. Just pull one out of the old boot and sling one.
