Not eating tag soup this season!!!

Unread postby Casper » Sun May 09, 2010 6:34 am

I killed a pretty big bird this morning at 615. I will report the man law violation on myself, but right now I have no way to get pics on the computer. Story and pics soon to come 8-)

Dude.

Friday at about 630 I went for a drive where I do most of my turkey hunting. There was a nice tom and two hens in a field I could hunt. I decided to make a quick stalk on him since then hens were leaving the field. I got close to him, but he just went into the woods as I got there.

Well Saturday morning I rolled out of bet at 4am and got ready to head out. I got setup at about 455 with just one hen decoy out. I took a short snooze, did some yelping at 540 and then at 550. He flew down off the bluff from the roost infront of me right after my 2nd series of yelps. He was infront of me on the knob for 15-20 minutes within 60 yards. He got to 40 yards or so and I decided to take the shot. Dropped him in his tracks. 23 lbs 11 oz. 10 1/2" beard and 1 3/8" spurs. Used the shotgun since I had a frustrating 2nd season with a bow and the weather was brutal on Sat.

This is where I was sitting...

This is what he was looking at when I shot.

Starting a kill thread without pics is the violation!

Nice old bird! Should be some more older gobblers falling this week as most of the 2 year olds have already been killed........(except on my property where they have all been shot at and none killed! )
