Do you ever find dead turkeys ?

Unread postby dreaming bucks » Sat May 05, 2012 3:27 am

I don't turkey hunt, but I was thinking about something this morning...

Do any of you ever find dead turkeys out in the woods ? I don't ever remember finding any bones or anything from turkeys that just die of natural causes... do they just crawl into a brushtop or something ? I mean, even if a coyote catches one & kills it, they don't eat the bones, right ?

I don't know, just something I was thinking about as I watch the lathe go round & round @ work. Lol

I find quite a few when spring scouting that were probably killed by coyotes or maybe even fox. Nothing left but bones and feathers.

I come across a pile of feathers every once and again - I assume from a coyote kill....

That and I've found a few breast bones, usually in the spring while shed hunting. Never found a whole dead turkey.

i have found a few this year, all fox kills. was out with the dog and a fox charged us out of a tree line and then ran out into the field and layed down. when we continued walking it ran back at us again, thats when i seen a fresh turkey kill laying in the weeds. we turned around and the fox ran right back to it.
