I have 3rd and 5th period this season. Last year I hunted on snow in the first period with little to no action or gobbling. This year the woods will be green by first period and a jungle by 3rd!! Toms are already breeding hens! Maybe the hens will be sitting on nests by third period?? I gotta believe those last couple periods will suck though?? Who knows?? Any ideas??

I don't know much about turkeys but I wonder the same thing.. My first thought was that the bulk of the breeding season cannot move much just like deer and other big game but then I remembered they aren't laying eggs the next spring so it really doesn't matter...???? My daughter has the first season here in MN so I think it'll be OK. I have the fifth season and I'm worried

The toms are going to get pounded 1st season. They have had this comfortable weather for so long that they will be stupid and in full swing the first week. The week long seasons are not going to help either, the birds are never going to get a break.

I'm still looking forward to my hunt in May.....birds should be doing the same thing they always do at that time of the year.

I've always had my best luck late season. When they go to nest you can run into some toms that go absolutely berserk when they don't get any hens to respond.
