Starting to Green up pretty fast

Unread postby bowhunter15 » Thu Mar 22, 2012 6:48 am

One of the reasons I applied for first season was so that I could have better visibility in the woods. At the rate we're going I feel that it'll look like May out there come mid-April. Anyone else noticing spring growth happening much earlier than usual this year due to the weather?

Yes, mosquitoes, ticks, and some small trees showing buds along with green grass starting.

I would say everything is 4-5 weeks ahead of schedule. I think a wake up call will be coming with a big April snowstorm. Much too early to say winter is done.

I actually prefer more foliage when turkey hunting. Makes it a lot easier to move in on birds because of the added cover. That, and I'd rather shoot a bird close than at a distance any day.

Long past green up here. Most trees have leaves already. I noticed yesterday that the Dogwoods are already blooming and that's 3+ weeks early. Not suprising with temps in the 80's. Way to hot too early......
Going to be a tough turkey season.

I think early season will be better here... Usually its tough the 1st week or two getting on birds with no cover and unresponsive grouped up birds. Heck we have had snow the 1st week a couple times. Going to be harder hunting later in the season in my opinion.
