Stalking a turkey is not an easy task, and adds to the excitement of the hunt for me.....I love going in after him when he won't come to me......

As said before, it's all about personal enjoyment. So if you like to sit, stalk or drive whatever makes you the happiest is something I shouldn't criticize. Far as law abiding, yes we need to have rules otherwise our hunting would suffer. But I struggle here because it's totally legal for me to shoot 500 deer this upcoming season (CWD zones)....

I just did this yesterday(sunday) afternoon. We spotted 2 toms and a hen from the road about a 1/3 of a mile away. We went after them, but by the time we got there we couldn't see them in the field any more. So before we set-up to call I went out in the field to peek over the rise in front of us to see if I could spot them. As I peeked over I spotted the birds only 30 yards from me. It turned out there was a little dip in the field on that knob and the birds were in it where we couldn't see them. I only had a few hours left in my season, so I waited for the one tom to get done breeding the hen(first time I have ever seen that) and dumped him. The hunting was very tough and the toms were not talking at all. I would prefer to call them in, but beggars can't be choosers :) .

I think part of the issue is the term "drive" makes a person envision 20 people meeting in the morning to go out and do turkey drives... Really, its a couple hunters taking advantage of a situation and doing what they can to fill a tag.
