Horrible hunting... Nothing would respond to my calls today. Told Dave he was on his own at about 2:30 and went home to dry off... Here are some pic's from the last couple days.
Sneaking around to call tom's out of fields into public sometimes requires "swimming"... On one hunt today we went a 1/4 mile thru swamp and flooded timber only to have the bird come in from an unexpected direction and not get seen till it was 10 yards away and running 50 miles an hour...
Found a hen turkey nest...
Run and gun set ups require stalking close, then setting up fast and calling the rest of the way. Here are some of Daves set ups...
Water and muck is deep in the swamps, and creeks often need crossing
Rubber boots fill up fast and become what I like to call " Foot aquariums"
So rather than walking around with foot aquariums on, I loose the socks and just throw on an old pair of camo tenni's...
Stealth outdoors camera umbrella... Cause fried cameras suck!
Where did that turkey go?
Who's hunting this week?

Re: Who's hunting this week?
My son and I both had tags for this week. I took him out before school Wed morning. We heard gobbling, saw a few, but failed to get any with in range. I went back out Wednesday afternoon and scored on a Tom, 22#, 10 inch beard 30mm spurs. He came in to some light calling, at the edge of a corn field. My son and I continue for the rest of the week, with out success. We had good gobbling each morning. But few sightings. I'll post pics in the contest thread later.

Nice shoes Dan!! LOL!
I chased birds saturday with my sister in law...she has a tag for zone 1. For the most part, the weather was bearable but we set up in several different spots, and tried calling with no response. We spotted several birds, busted a few, and also walked up on a small group of birds picking out in an open field. We set up and tried calling them in, but every time I would call, the hens would lead them away. So we tried just waiting them out and eventually they started moving our direction, then took a different route where they dropped out of sight so Sonia belly crawled acrossed the wet field and when she stood up, she needed to be about 10 more yards further...the birds kind of scattered. But one of the toms danced in circles not knowing which way to go. It finally dropped off over another dip and Sonia took off on a dead run through the plowed field to see if she could catch up with it on the other side but no luck.
We walked a lot and hunted hard. We ended up sitting for the last hour and a half to see if they would come back to roost in the trees but the only thing that came in was a hen.
It was fun...I hope she made it back out today...she has always been one of those "last minute, last day" turkey killers. So at this point she still has some time left!!
