First MN bear hunt. Countdown begins!
Leaving on the 9 hour drive from green bay to northern MN next tuesday morning at around 3a.m. for my first MN bear hunt. I shot my first bear ever in northern WI (with mike) last year and wanted to go hunt another one as soon as that one hit the ground. Couldn't wait another 8 years (what a joke!) I'm so pumped i can hardly sleep. all the clothes are washed and gear is packed. just need the next two weeks to go by a little quicker.

Sounds fun... I have been up in Superior national forest baiting bears and seeing some really great sign.. Can't wait to get up there and check the cameras.

My first MN hunt also in two weeks. About 60 miles south if International Falls. Anybody got any feedback on Mother Nature's crop and/or mast where ever in may be in the great state of MN:?:

I did not see much for acorns where I scouted but blueberrys and rassberrys were everywhere.

Dan is right on, very few oaks in NE MN, almost zero crops save for a few random farms but plenty of berries.

East Gemmel Ridge road I'd bet. Keep an eye out for a 2011 F-250, that would be me. Good luck Willy and enjoy your hunt!!willy11674 wrote:We are headed up to just north of Northolme, MN. Not sure what the name of the road is. I'll keep an eye out. We are staying at the only resort i could find near gimmell. should be fun. Just got all my clothes off the line and packed in the scent tight containers and packed all my stands into the back of the truck. we are bringing a chest freezer in our trailer hoping to need to bring 4 bears and hides home. hopefully there won't be a bunch of ice and a dozen walleye fillets only when we leave.

I know exactly where your staying, Clear Lake Resort. I stay there every summer around the 4th for about a week. There's great fishing on Dark Lake that's across the road. The lake your cabin Is on Is an ok lake too. Say hi to Bob for me, he knows me well.willy11674 wrote:Schultzy wrote:East Gemmel Ridge road I'd bet. Keep an eye out for a 2011 F-250, that would be me. Will do. If your in the area stop over for a cocktail. We are the cabin that will have the gas powered blender fired up after the first bear is down. do you guide in the area?

Re: First MN bear hunt. Countdown begins!
Nope, I don't guide. I live 4.5 hours south of Northhome but have been bear hunting the area your going to be hunting for 20 years. My dad has been hunting this same area off and on since the mid 70's. I'll do my best to get over and BS with you guys. Mike Is staying with you as well right?willy11674 wrote:Will do.
