Anywhere from 100 yards to a 1/4 mile. Some of the logging roads have not been used probably since last deer season. Trees were over them and small trees growing in them. Some of the places we navigated I dought anyone hunts within a mile. There is one though that an Outfitter runs baits on the same trail... I thought I had it to myself two years ago when I found it following a bear trail and finding a marked tree... I had a ton of big and colored bears coming in, then one day ran into the outfitter who said he didn't have any baits near mine but whined a little about it being his area... My way of seeing it is if he ain't baiting there, and its public land he has nothing to whine about... Those run ins are rare though if you get back in off the main roads and away from camp grounds or town.

I got my baits in as well this past weekend in MN. Here is a photo of one of them:

Wafer cookies, Black Licorice, Gummy Treats, Candy Coated Gummies and Black Frosting. Topped it all off with plenty of liquid smoke sprayed all over, some bear scents bacon scent on the logs and grease around the crib.
