616 pounder killed near New Richmond, WI.

Unread postby KRONIIK » Wed Oct 13, 2021 7:07 am

Saw it on a popup on my phone; sorry no link.

Guy from Minnesota saw it feeding in a field; asked permission and went after it.
He had previously killed a 449 pounder earlier in his hunting career, so I guess he knew a big bear when he saw it!

most farmers hate bear for the destruction they do to corn fields, much easier getting permission to hunt bear on private property than deer. Great bear

I wonder if this was a spot and stalk kill?

Almost had to be.
I didn't notice if the article mentioned whether he used a gun or bow, though?

(One headline stated that he "caught" it.
So... he probably just used a lasso, or maybe a big glue trap...)

Humm! Wasn't on a hunting trip, just happened to see it and then caught up to it? It smells to me?

That’s exactly how bears are killed in many states and parts of Canada. I think if he did that legally without bait that’s pretty neat especially if it was a bow kill. Sure would like to hear the full story.

So he's from Minnesota but he had a Wisconsin bear tag for that zone but he wasn't there hunting bear he was in Wisconsin for something else and just happened to have a weapon when he saw the bear?

It's pretty clear some dufus who knows nothing about bear hunting wrote the article, but there are a lot of loose ends that are missing.

He just so happened to have a tag for that zone? One news outlet said he "tracked him down".

Who needs a bunch of hounds anyways ? Just call this guy. He'll track em down for ya.
