Shooting a standing bear with a bow
I had a good bear (probably 250) come in last night inside 20 yards and when he got broadside he stood up. He was rubbing a tree then just stood there for a few seconds and went back the way he came. It would have been an easy shot with a gun, but I was unsure about it with a bow. There were a few seconds he was still and broadside standing but I thought the chance of him reacting to the shot and dropping was too great, and a standing shot did not seem ideal. I was deer hunting and didn't really want to shoot a bear at 615 with a 2 mile hike out by myself, so wasn't really excited about shooting him at all. But just wondering, has anyone tried such a shot with a bow? It was also a really steep uphill shot, probably 100 percent slope.
Some do. Some don't. I just might...

Standing on hind legs is not the best shot on a bear. Nothing wrong with the uphill shot, but if you shoot a bear standing on his hind legs, you better hit the heart or you are going to have trouble. They do not duck like a deer at the sound of a shot.

I will never try Bear hunting with a bow, But according to me, the bear neck is the perfect place to kill them with a bow.
