(Hound Hunters) What do you guys recommend? I am looking to purchase a good communication radio for two trucks. Allot of areas up here there is no cell service. What do you recommend and what is the range (miles)

Icom am/fm. That's what all the houndsmen in the south are using. Just find a vacant channel

Re: Hound hunters Radio
My buddies use Motorola radios when hog hunting in the steep terrain of SE Mizzou. They get 8-9 miles on low-mid range frequency

Re: Hound hunters Radio
When I worked for the county we used Motorola’s and could talk to people on the opposite end of the county. Easy 30 miles, no static or anything. Can’t remember the model, but I know they weren’t cheap. But with electronics you get what you pay for.
I think my dad had Motorola’s for construction and they could radio guys in antigo from Milwaukee. This was 15-20 years ago as well.
