Arizona spring bear
Gonna be headed to southern AZ for a spring bear hunt with my longbow. It’s a no bait or no dogs hunt. So spot and stalk or sitting over a water source is gonna be the ticket. Gonna be packing in to some remote country for the first four days of the season. Should be a challenging hunt. Just like I like it.

There are definitely a good population of bears down here. And BIG bears at that. For sure an off the radar hunt. I’m a novice bear hunter, I’ll consider a sighting as a success. It’s gonna be fun no matter what.

Keep us posted on how it goes. Yes it will be a big challenge with a spot and stalk type hunt. Is this a DIY hunt? how did you come to pick AZ?

Re: Arizona spring bear
It’s a DIY hunt. I live down here, about 2 hours from the area a got drawn for. I’ve done a few fall hunts but never pursued it seriously. I’m gonna put more hours in on this hunt. The season is long, goes til the end of July. There are only 20 tags for this hunt. I’m hoping as it gets hotter the other guys will stop going. It gets pretty miserable hunting when it’s over 100 degrees. One of these years I’ll have to go up north and get a bear. Although it would be cool to have a desert bear in the trophy room.

Re: Arizona spring bear
Good luck on your hunt. I took a trip to AZ for Coues last Dec didn't tag one saw a few and passed a spike but man did I get my but kicked trying to find em. I struggled to find pockets of em to say the least but then again it was my first Coues trip solo DIY I was just happy to at least see a couple. I've been debating on trying to draw again this year I really want to get a coues. I wish I lived closer to AZ so I could scout prior to hunting, I'm 26 hrs drive away from Tucson.

First Sit, those Coues Deer are pretty cool animals. I haven’t pursued em much, but the few times I have were a blast. Still have yet to tag one. I find myself chasing desert mule deer mostly. One of these days I’m gonna have to get one of those little guys.
