Same as whitetail. If your shot placement is off, you will struggle regardless. Bears die easy with a well place shot. Mega expandables not required. Good shooting is.

I'm using G5 stickers for bear ...same as whitetail.

Steve from forge bow company shot a bear with the toxic head and the bear ran 30 yards! a well placed shot is key as bass stated.

Rage for mechanicals and I want to see a nice cut on impact fixed blade. No little puny heads either. Bears die easy with the right shot placement, which doesn't always happen

You want blood. Two holes if possible. Wounds plug fast and bears don't bleed easy. We lost two bears on slick trick broad heads last fall. One was a total pass thru with no blood at all, the other ran about 150 yards. There was no blood after 20 yards or so. I was almost ready to say let's come back tomorrow when I saw something black under the balsams. The bear bled like when I skinned it. Which at the point was useless.

I killed 2 bear using 125 g three blade Muzzy's. Same exact head I have been killing deer with since the early 90's.

I would rather see a hunter use a fixed broad head.

I shot one last year as he was quartering away with a g5 t3 expandable from about 10 yards. The arrow went in, pierced his heart and got lodged in his chest cavity. The bear didn't make it far being a heart shot but Id like to have pass thrus next time

I know a few guys into Bear hunting that do guiding. A common theme I heard from them when bears were lost was poor shot placement and the guys that set there own stand at bait. The latter of the two made me wonder. But basically they said most deer hunters coming from south of the big woods that are not used to seeing bears, set there stand too high. It's easier to one lung a bear the body is wider and lungs are further apart. The high entrance will get soaked up by a bears thick coat so a pass through is super important so he recommended fixed blades. He also said guys fear bear coming into the tree with them is another common reason they go high or try to set there own stand. He recommended 8-12ft for most spots. A nicely placed shot fairly close to level through the body with a super sharp broadhead works everytime.

I switched 3 yrs ago, now shooting QAD Exodus. 100gr full blade. Killed three deer with them, none went farther than 50 yds. Three inch groups out to 60 yds. I will be using them on my WI bear hunt.

Tested the Toxic, not impressed. And the Qad blades feel sharper.

Bears are tuff, I would suggest a sharp fixed head. I use muzzy 3 blade 100's.

Stands should not exceed 15 feet. Period. Most of our are between 8-10 feet high.

You must be talking about my deer stands? :D

I hunted bear in Canada. Killed bear from the ground with a 125gr rocket steelhead fixed blade. Did not go far. Only bear I have ever killed and really have only been bear hunting one other time.

Bear hunting is in full swing here in Maine right now. Guys are knocking down some nice ones north of me.

Its interesting though. Had a discussion with a guy today about weighing a bear. I always thought it was live weight. BUT some states, its dressed weight. Canada was live weight.
