Re: Hunt247365 2015 WI Bear Season
Heres the story from yesterday.
Well we were feeling down after the 2nd night of the season as my dad had a guy walk in to put bait out and hunt at 6:35pm (thats right I said 6:35pm)! He said he stated a bait 1 week ago in there and didn't know anyone was already in there....well its strange that he was walking in on the path we made right past our bait and didn't know it. Also when he started to bait is also when that site went cold for us....when asked why he was coming in that late he said thats the soonest he could get in there. Now to yesterday my dad decided to hunt the cedar site as it was getting hit off and on and maybe last night would be the on night. So I took him in with the wheeler and baited the site. Then washed up and ready to go to walk outside to it raining and had 2nd thoughts of going out and getting soaked. Well got in the truck and headed to where I was going to hunt when I was just about there got a call from a guy looking to get honey so I pulled over and well talking to him a truck went passed me and pulled in right where I was going to park. Got off the phone and had a small talk with the guy who said he just started a bait in there a couple days ago and did notice my site but thought 10ac between them was enough. Well not in the best mood at this point decided the skeeter site was the only site close enough to get to at that hr but the wind was wrong for how I was setup there. Decided I would go in and get on the other side of the bait and just sit on the ground and see what happens. Well siting there I'm thinking about how my dads best spot went down the drain, our one other site went down the drain and how I'm having my first sit at the skeeter site in a way I had not planned for and was feeling a little discouraged at that point when I noticed movement off to my left. I watched and finally see a flash of black and what I know for sure is a bear! As it worked its way towards me a 2nd bear moved through behind the 1st one and that one I think was bigger but not sure. Before I know it the first bear is only 20yds away and walking right at me and has no clue I'm there and when it hit 15yds and still walking right at me I knew it would only be a min before it would notice me or be on my lap and Iknew its not the monster of the woods but a nice bear I would be happy with for my first DIY WI bear on public land and dropped him in his tracks at 15yds from my feet! 181lb and my dad and I made some memories getting him out and talking about how close he got to me. Now to get my dad on one of those black ghost...still the tick site and lake site are getting hit good with the tick site getting hit daily and hope it comes together for my dad to get his first bear.

Thanks guys. Will keep updates coming on how my dad is doing and with luck will have one more good story.
I'm thinking bear kabobs on the grill tomorrow for the Packer game.
