I just finished, great read. Thanks for sharing. I have proven to be not so good at estimating bear, so I will leave that to others.

Uber story and nice bear to boot. Congratulations.

The bear dressed out at an even 200lbs. He's right at 6 feet 2 inches. His front pads measured out a tad over 4.5 inches. He's fairly big framed, specially up front. His head will be close to P&Y. When I 1st saw him 60 yards away I figured all of 225 to 250 because of his height but when he got closer I could see he was very lean and figured he would go about 180 pounds dressed. Like I said absolutely no fat on him. He should've tipped the scales in that 270 pound range. I'm still pissed I didn't have my camera for pics. I do have video of this bear when he came in the 1st time. I'll get that uploaded sometime and post that up. My guess on age is a 6 to 7 year old.

Thanks for all of the congrats and text messages.

Great read. congrats on a solid bear, despite some of the hiccups. Good to see you're getting the youngsters involved as well

Thanks all! Much appreciated!! Lmao Ed!! I'd love to get on a bear of that size in that cage. That thing is huge. All of 600 to 700 pounds I'd bet.

congratulations Schultzy very nice bear. I was going to guess 235 so that must have been pretty close live weight? If you get a bear every year what do you do with all the hides? I asked my taxidermist if I got a bear this year that wasn't bigger than my biggest bear if he would just tan the hide for me. He was reluctant because of the amount of work but said he would do it.

I have 3 rugs and a shoulder mount and 4 tanned hides hanging. I'm done with mounting a bear unless he's a giant (boone and Crockett bear). My neighbor gal is getting my bear hide from this year. I told her I'd pay for getting it tanned and give it to her. She's 19 years old and loves this hunting stuff.
