Was told by a bear researcher one time, do not rinse out the cavity or pack ice, the water will carry bacteria to the meat. He said let the blood dry naturally in the cavity, it creates kind of a shell and will not let bacteria in. Just what he said.

I've heard the same thing. Since I've never cleaned a deer carcas with water.
