Anybody getting a mount done of their bear? I thought about a shoulder mount. I have a rug and it takes up a lot of space.
Maybe I will just tan the hide and have a mount done later. Got any good pics of a shoulder mount?
The meat is really good so we have been enjoying that.
What you doing with bear you shot?

I already have 2 life size, a rug, and a "beer" ( bear head mounted with a rack ) But this years was worthy so I am having Trudell taxidermy do a 3/4 mount.

I've got 3 rugs, a shoulder mount and 3 others tanned. I might tan this one, we'll see. As for the eating part I haven't butchered it up yet.

I'd go 1/2 or 3/4 for the mount. It is a little more money (form is A LOT more), but the finished product is A LOT better in my opinion compared to a shoulder mount. Below is my 2010 bear (bottom mount). Pick you taxidermist wisely so you don't end up with bad ears like my buddy (top mount).

Here is my 3/4 mount I had done in 2006. If I remember right it was right around $1000 back then.

Awesome bear Dewey. For the record, mine came in around $860 in 2010. Paid cash in full. I'd expect to pay a grand+ today for a comparable mount.

Some nice looking mounts. I was originally thinking a shoulder mount (due to space) with closed mouth. Bassboy I like the turn and look of your mount. That is kinda what I had in mind.
Those 3/4 mounts are neat. Lots of options I see.

Re: What you doing with bear you shot?
My first bear I had a 3/4 mount done for $850. This bear was a little over 200lbs dressed. I had planned if I got a 400+ pound bear this year I'd have another 3/4 mount done but my bear was just under 300lbs dressed so I decided to go with a rug. It is going to be one big wide rug.

Yes, that will take up a bit of space for sure.
