Well this is it, the last week for me. Got one hunter only minutes away from bear camp. Other hunter from Colorado will show up tomorrow and another one coming in this weekend. Baited the stands we will not be hunting this AM and set more trail cameras out, will check tomorrow, also fired some others back up that haven't been baited for two weeks now, its amazing how long they will keep checking those bait stations. Will bring hunter to his stand much later than usual today because of the wind is so strong hoping it will calm down some later in the day. All stands are getting hit good, the bear at the big cedar stand has gone mostly nocturnal, but is still showing up the last minutes of shooting time and baiting it with very little bait now hoping the big bears stomach will get the best of him and show up during shooting time. Its a great day to shoot a bear  .

I put on my lucky hat and I brought Charlie into his stand around 2:45, the wind was out of the SW, good for that stand, but extremely breezy with gusts up to 25. Its amazing the color change from last week, logging operation's all done, dog bear hunters all done, no traffic in the area what so ever. Charlie is one of those hunters I didn't have to worry about, a good woodsman, has hunted all over the States, new he would get out of the woods and back to bear camp without any problem. Around 4:30 he seen a bear off to his left about 15ft from the bait in the thick brush, bear got spooked and bolted, by 6:00 the wind calmed down, Charlie new a bear was coming by the warning cries of a bird. I guess the rest is history. The bear was registered, skinned out, and quartered and in the freezer by 10:00 PM.

Got a call from the hunter from Colorado, he will not make it till the last 3 days of the season, so I guess I will be bear hunting next week :D. Other hunter will be here this weekend but will have my lead Guide take care of him.

Will check cameras today, decide what stands I will keep going. Its sad the season is coming to an end but will enjoy every minute that is left.

Three more days left and the 2013 bear season is in the books. Rick from Colorado will be here today around 2:00PM, its a long drive for him, almost 1400 miles, will be in his stand as soon as he arrives, will have to wear blaze orange today because of the youth deer hunt, we have some big bears coming in, hopefully he can get this done. The hides on these bears this time of year are awesome, very thick and prime. Will keep you posted.

Good luck to Rick... Tough hunting now with so many people in the woods. Hopefully you can pull it off Mike!

Rick arrived at 2:30 after driving straight threw from Colorado. Last day for the youth gun hunt was today, he didn't see anything but 3 raccoons. Two days left, will be less traffic in the woods, weather will be nicer also. Set cameras back up today, will not check cameras till Rick goes in to sit. He has two good bait stations to choose from, both has big bears hitting them. Keep fingers crossed.
