Look who came to dinner at my dad's house!!

My dad's poor bird feeders!

This big fella came in and my dad started taking pics... that bird feeder is well over 4 feet off the ground and the bear easily clears it sitting on his rump! My dad took a lot of pics but most were out of focus from the excitement! Things were cool until he started smashing multiple feeders into a hundred pieces!

My dad raced for the Glock 10mm and a shot fired into the air sent him on his way! That's a pretty good bear for spring, what's your guess on weight and what do you believe he could reach by fall? 8-) I'll have to put this in the bear thread too.

He's definitely not one of those 700 pound monsters, but very cool to see. The last time one of these guys showed up in the neighborhood the kids all ended up in cars waiting for the school bus!

My guess, using the height of the Shepard hook, is about a 250lb bear in the fall.

Doesn't look like a little guy, and just guessing he won't hit 300 by fall. Who knows thou......it's a better than average bear in my opinion.

If that feeder Is all of 4 feet like you said It Is the bear Is probably In that 6 foot range on his back feet. I'd say he'll go In that 200 pound range dressed (or bigger) come fall. He's definitely a boar too. Nice looking head on the young fella too.

Thanks for the input guys.

Years ago I located some bear dens about a half mile from my dad's house, they are definitely around that area.

Its been a crazy spring for bears in the yard... I got up to go to work and one of my steel shepherd poles was bent like a rainbow and the bird feeder it held was ripped apart. My commercial garbage bin was drug across the back yard too... the bird feeder was fifteen feet from my bedroom window. BTW my dad lives a couple of hours away from here.
