Going bear hunting this fall with archery gear;
A) need to purchase a target for practice, where?
B) need to practice, best spot on target for kill on real bear?
C) Using rage extreme 100 grain tips, good, bad?
Thoughts, suggestions please...

Re: Bear archery / target / sweet spot
I've heard some guide in Canada describe the exact spot as middle from nose to tail and middle from top of bear to bottom of bear stomach as the sweet spot.

I would not recommend any expandable broadhead on a bear.
Don't shoot, shoulder blocking vitals

I've always been told stay back further than you would shoot a whitetail, you do not want to hit the shoulder on a bear. Midway up from the bottom and about 2" back from the point of the shoulder has been a sweet spot for myself and a few of my crew...........Stay away from expandables on bear!
This clip has a few good bear double lung hits:

Re: Bear archery / target / sweet spot
I pick my spot the same on a bear that I do with whitetails. Penetration wise to me there Isn't a bit of difference between an average bear and an average deer. A 130 pound deer actually has allot more meat on It then a 130 pound bear. Just like a whitetail though the more mature the animal the bigger the bones. On my biggest bear (325lbs dressed, estimated at 15.5 years old) I got a complete pass through at 12 yards shooting a 2216 arrow tipped with a 1 1/4 3 blade snuffer pulling 60+ pounds on my recurve. Bear went 22 yards and died (top of the heart and double lung shot).
In my opinion the hide Is fairly easy to cut. The harder part to cut Is the fat. Every bear differs on how much fat they have. In the shoulder area by the lungs Is probably the least amount of fat on a bear but still there's fat there. I'm not an expandable guy period so no matter the animal I'd say stay away from those. No offense meant to those who like them.

My little brother just ordered a 3d bear target on ebay. Normal price was 169 and he got it for $149 plus $30 shipping

Re: Bear archery / target / sweet spot
Just aim same as on a whitetail. You don't want to hit a deer in the shoulder either. 100 guys will give you 100 different broadhead options. Fixed blade is obviously the best option for bear because you are only shooting 20 yards. So if they fly right then why not? If you feel more comfortable with an expandable then they will do the job too. I use grim reapers and took a nice bear in Saskatchewan last spring with it. I'm not a big fan of the Rage or any 2 blade expandable but if you shoot them well then stay with them. Let your bear quarter away from you just a little bit and aim so your arrow exits just behind the opposite shoulder. Dead bear.
