Absolutely. I dont hunt for "trophys", not necessarily after dinks. Guess that makes me a tag filler

I voted no, at least not on purpose.. This year I will be on my first ever bear hunt. I will be hunting with Mike Foss, and hope he puts me on a decenent one.

I shot a small bear on the FIRST day, was my first bear so i was very happy with it..............Since then I have killed a nice boar so I don't think I would kill a small one last day or first, but to each his/her own, whatever makes you happy is what you should shoot.

Re: Shoot a small bear last day?
When it comes to hunting bear and deer, I am most typically a lone wolf. On the last day of the hunt a good 200 pound bear, live weight, is about all I want to handle getting out of a wilderness or big woods area. Getting a much larger bear out is... difficult. A small bear is great eating, and manageable for a lone wolf.

I'm there with Stanley. If I pass it the first day I most likely will pass it the last day. This year I will try for a bear that would make a nice shoulder mount. Ideally it will be a boar in the 250 pound plus range. If you go into the season with a set goal it will make it easier to pass the smaller ones. Nothing wrong with shooting a smaller one as they are good eating. It can happen the last 5 minutes of legal light on the first day in stand or last day in stand. Set a goal and stick with it.

I voted no but I am not in the spot that a lot of bear hunters are. I can take one bear every year so I don't feel the pressure of having to wait 5 to 7 years. The last two years I have passed on bear that were in the 250 and under range.
