A home made recipe we came up with. Catfish/bullheads whole put In a black 5 gallon pail filled 1/2 full of water. Put cover on and set In the sun for at least a month. Everything will desolve Into liquid but the big bones. Even after a good rain It still holds It's smell. This stuff will make most people puke but It sure helps get scent out and bring the bear In to the goodies. We've found that other fish species don't stink as good.

Mike I tried that bacon scent last year. I didn't seem to have much luck with it. I thought it smelled like liquid smoke with a bit of sweet added to it. The stuff I used was a thick clear liquid. If I remember right it was $20 a bottle.

It should have been a thick gel, brown in color, comes in jar container. Should have a very strong bacon smell. Ohh well it has worked for me for years, great attractent to get the baits going.

Mike it was a thicker liquid but not so thick that it couldn't be used out of a spray bottle and it was clear, thats what I thought was so strange. Can you post a link to where you get your bacon scent from or the company who makes it?

that is what I bought. I don't know maybe I just got a bad batch but the Bear Scent bacon scent I bought from Butch's Archery was clear and did not have much a bacon scent to me. I'll give it another try this year but maybe buy direct from Bear Scents.
