If it were me I would of shot the bear... I believe if that guys warning shot had not stopped that bear there was no time for a second shot.
Thank God they were in Alaska and not Canada, cause you can't carry side arms in Canada.

I can't honestly answer that question. Water or the bear for sure, not sure which one. If I'd shoot at the bear under them circumstances I'd more then likely miss so I should say water. I talked with Fred at the P&Y convention last year In Minnesota about this encounter. He said It was Insanely nuts.

Wow!! That happened so fast you would not have much time to think about it. I guess I would have shot the bear because that did not look like a bluff charge. I think that bear was in full attack mode.

I'd shoot the bear. That guy is lucky he even had his gun ready, there sure wasn't much time to react.

I guess I would have shot at the bear. But thinking about it he did the right thing to scare off the bear imo! If he would've wounded mama with those 3 cubs present, he would've been in a world of trouble!!! Unbelievable how he made the right decision in a split second!!!

Wow. Great video. Eichler sure gets into some interesting situations. That is hard to answer how to react until you get into that situation, but when you are in bear or country with other predators, you have to give this some thought before you get there.

I would like to think I would be ready to shoot the bear, I wouldn't be into scaring something that is bearing down on me.

Looking at that video, it would be fairly intimidating to be sitting in that boat aiming an aerosol can of pepper spray at that bear, eh?

I almost loaded my britches watching the video. Holy (*&$%$. SHOOT IT.
It's not a problem, it's a opportunity for a solution.
