Topo Help

Unread postby Gibby » Mon Jul 04, 2011 2:49 am

Looking for a little assistance from the advanced map readers on this site
This is farm country and what I refer to as hill country compared to what else is in the area
If someone could point out what you see as potential bedding locations and maybe explain why, that would be greatly appreciated
Wind is generally out of the W or SW here, but it can come from any direction at times  . Top of map is North

Sorry for the quality, I hope its good enough to work with

Thanks

Gibby,
I marked 4 potential bedding areas based on elevation for a West or S.West wind. It was hard for me to determine the amount of elevation change on your map. But I would say some of your bedding will be based on elevation (hill country tactics) and some based on farm land type bedding... The farm land bedding is hard to determine based on just maps.
The spots I chose were where the elevation dropped off quickly and the wind was blowing from the Top ( S.West or West ) over the bucks back as he looks downhill and catches the thermal wind rising.

Thanks for the highlights Dan, I will check them out to see what I can come up with
Its not the best example of hill country compared to other topos I've seen but its hilly to me compared to the flat land i've hunted in the past

What else should I be looking for in farm country with respect to bedding?

Thick cover, and spots that for or reason or another are over looked and seldom walked by humans.
