Buck I was hoping to kill WI rifle/muzzleloader

Unread postby Bucky » Mon Mar 07, 2011 3:21 pm

Here is the buck I was after this fall... only saw him 1 time at roughly 125 yards or so with bow. I had him on camera numerous times in many different spots. It would have only been a matter of time during the rut with a bow but I tagged out on Oct 22nd. The deer was injured after the rut, had a pretty noticeable limp, shed his antlers late Dec - just after Christmas and was found dead by neighboring landowner in late Jan - he had distinct marking on his face/legs that gave away it was him. Seemed to be of natural causes/being run down from the rut. Would have been a mega giant to chase next yr  I looked for over 20hrs in early Jan for his sheds... we will see if I they are found this coming spring.

Thats a bummer that he didn't make it. He was a cool looking buck.

Cool looking buck Bucky I like the point that comes off on the inside of a rack, I found a shed a few years ago that had the same thing. To bad you won't get to chase him this fall. here's a few pics of the shed that I found that had the same character.

I found the side with extra point last spring, but the extra point was busted off. Buck was 4yr old this year... sucks but that is reality. Simply passing bucks up doesn't get them to 4, 5, or 6. It takes some luck as well, poaching, car kills, natural death etc. The odds are stacked against a whitetail buck to make it to 5yrs of age in WI rifle country

One heck of a buck!! Wish you could have put your tag on him instead of loosing him to natural causes.

That is a bummer Bucky. Man it seems like you are in a good area between this and the other video you posted. Can't wait to see what you connect on this fall.
