Time to order Tree/shrub seedlings for Spring

Unread postby Sagittarius » Wed Jan 05, 2011 2:00 pm

Time to think about deer habitat improvements for spring. Many Wisconsin counties have tree/bush programs where you can purchase 15 - 25 tree seedlings of a species, oaks, broadleaf trees, evergreens, shrubs. Most are native, and some are prefered deer browse. Cost is usually around $1 each. It is a cost effective oportiunity to improve deer habitat on your properties. Orders are normally due end of February or in March for April pickup. One does not need to be a county resident to order. Listed are Sheboygan, Kenosha, and Washington, and Outagamie counties, but there may be others!

Also the Wisconsin DNR has a tree and shrub program. http://dnr.wi.gov/news/DNRNews_article_Lookup.asp?id=1576

Have bought thru Sheboygan County for 5 or 6 years now. Very good quality trees and if you pick-up on the second day it's under 5 minutes to get in and out.
