So I hunt in low country Alabama and live like 8 hours from our property so often I am going in blind due to limited scouting time. I have added some photos of an area where I think might be productive. Predominate winds are from the west. Hardwoods to the south and creek bottom running to the north. I have never been on this part of our lease but I think it has potential. One picture is from 2011 and one is recent so you can see the topography and different types of trees better. What do you think about this stand setup or how would you change it? Thanks!!

If he leaves his bed going south you should be in the right place assuming the hardwoods will have acorns. Any other food sources in the area?

One small food plot to the northeast but I think the oaks would be the predominant food sourse. Do you think it would be wisest to set up on the hillside or just directly in the creek bottom?

If your wind comes from the left to right as you have drawn, I would not expect the buck to bed where you marked it on the topo map. He should b closer to where your stand location is. That bed you found could be an off wind bed. He could be anywhere on that side. Good luck

The way the bed is positioned may be a S-SW wind bed. Stand position may work for a SW wind, it just depends on stand height and wind strength, thermals. If the creek holds water, you might walk in it (without leaving ground scent) to try to find his crossing below and pinpoint his J-hook for a morning hunt or observation sit.
