What to plant?

Unread postby vtbuck » Sat Jun 11, 2016 10:15 pm

I usually plant turnips and brassicas. I've got 2 plots totaling around 2 acres. I also can plant any of the existing trails on the properties. Suggestions?

Oats and radishes are a good mix planted in mid August in Michigan. Then topped off with rye in September before a rain.

Anything better than what is available to the deer already, which will vary by region. I once planted perennial rye grass in the Adirondacks (I thought I'd bought cereal rye and didn't think twice until I opened the bag). Even though it wouldn't have been appealing in farm country, it sure was for big woods deer. They kept it mowed flat like a putting green until the snow flew.
