What to plant, to prevent washouts?

I have a ridge road my friend put in for me last year. It's really a sandy soil, and does not get much sun. Is there any kind of grass or anything I can try to get to grow in that type of soil, just to prevent it from washing out on heavy rains? I just want to get something to grow in there, so I'm not fixing the road every other year. Cheaper the better.

try this link out it should help you out, alot of state and government websites have seed mixes that are suitable specifically to your area or situation. Also knowing what type of soil your road goes through will help, try the web soil mapper.

with is a web soil survey mapper that will allow you to zoom right into where you live by an arieal photo. select AOI and draw a box around the soils you wish to know and then click on the Soil Map tab. from there you can choose the soil type on the left and it will give you detailed information on the soil type. if you have any questions let me know ill be glad to help.

I was talking to the local FS rep last night, and he was telling me they have a mix they call "Horse and pony mix" that works really well for what I need..... I guess it has a few things in it, I believe some rye or grass mix, but then it has some clover in it also. He says it grows well in the type of soil I have..... He says it's a $100 for a 50 pound bag..... that seems a little expensive, don't it? I don't know, I might just try it and see what it does....

Seems expensive, but your gonig to have a hard time growing something in sandy soil, so it's probably worth it. You could also Pm Deerslayer, he might be able to custom mix yuou a blend that would work.
