New Guy Looking for Help from the Beasts

Unread postby DeepSouthHunter » Sat Jan 04, 2014 5:36 am

Hello Beasts! I've been a lurker on this forum for quite some time but this is my first time posting (that I can remember anyway). I hunt the Perdido River WMA in Baldwin County, AL and as the name implies it borders the Perdido River which seperates the SE part of AL and the W part of FL. The majority of this property is various ages of planted pines with very few hardwoods sprinkled in. I'd say that about 70% of the entire WMA could be described as a thicket so pinpointing bedding areas have been impossible for me. I have hunted this area sparingly for 5 years now with most of my efforts focused on the area circled in orange on the attached map. I will attach topos and arial photos in separate posts. What I'm hoping is that some of you experienced "computer scouters" can point out some areas I need to focus on. I'm all for branching out into different areas if you guys see something promising. Our rut is just about to get started so I'd love to have a chance at a decent buck . I'm about to leave to hunt with a relative as a guest on his lease for the weekend and won't have cell service so I'm not in a big hurry for help here. Thanks in advance and I look forward to reading you guys replies and posting here more in the future!

I am having a real hard time seeing the elevation lines on your topo's, can you get better ones? I usually use G4 mapping.

Sorry about that Dan. I will try to figure out how to get better quality maps on here. Is there a way to post pictures directly from my computer without hosting them on imageshack? I haven't figured out how to do that yet if there is.

They need to be hosted somewhere, most of the guys use photo-bucket or the hunting beast gallery. They seem more user friendly than image shack to me.

OK, so I figured out that the hosting sites were compressing them down and ruining the resolution so I cropped them down and hopefully the elevations will show up better for you now. I hate to state the obvious but the areas in dark green is the public land I have access to. Thank you again for looking at these for me!!!

Red marks likely buck bedding, yellow marks possible hunting spots
