Unread postby goldtip5575 » Sat Jul 07, 2012 8:57 am

We were required to interseed clover and alfalfa with our cold season grass CRP fields this spring. What % of the seeds will germinate with the drought were having in S.E. WI.Will the drought have killed off most of the seed or does it just go dorment and regrow with rain.

Anything that germinated and did not mature enough to go dormant will die.

If the seeds haven't germinated because it's too dry, you might be ok. If they germinated, well like Zap said they are more than likely dead.

Germinated clover is not the only thing that is dying... almost all the corn in my area is a complete loss... brace yourself for major price increases. 25 states experienced the same heat and drought = bad news for production of corn
