Would like to Learn

Unread postby backstraps » Mon Jun 25, 2012 6:27 am

I would like to post some pics of some public ground I hunt out of state.
This way I would be familar with the lay of the land when other post replies on the parcel.

My thing is, I dont know how to save a topo map or an aerial to my pc so I can load them into photobucket
to upload here.

Can someone point me in the right direction please?

Piece of cake. It depends on what your OS is, but if you have Windows Vista or 7 you can just use your "Snipping Tool". If you don't know what that is or if you have it then just hit your start button and at the bottom type it in. When you click on it your screen will look faded. Just move your cursor to the corner of the area you want to save, left click (hold down) & drag across the area you want. Release and wallah. A box pops up showing the area and allows a few options including a save button. I'm guessing Windows 8 has this tool also, but I'm not sure. If you have an older OS you can use a free program called "Print Key 2000" or worst case scenario you can use your print screen feature on you computer, open your paint program, hit edit and then paste. Then you can save it. Although that will show everything on your screen. If you need more help just ask. I can do a video tutorial for you if you need it. 8-)

I install ImageJ or Fiji (free downloads) on every computer I use. When you have an image on your computer screen, ctrl alt print screen keys, edit/paste into ImageJ and then save as jpeg. Upload the image to my Photobucket acct and good to go.

I use Mozilla Firefox as a browser and there is an add on where you can click and upload to photobucket directly.

I used a copy/paste to get a couple maps up on the Land management Forum.
